The prosecution versus the courts
A study reignites the old debate
In court proceedings it uses a passive approach and does not react with priority when the court hands down lenient sentences, and the same is the attitude of the young prosecutors
TIRANA - the polemics are intensifying after the publication of a study by the association of jurists, “On the level of crime and the fight against it”. In yesterday’s analysis, the way criticism is directed at prosecutors stands out. The document says that they tend to seek lighter sentences and that judges are left without the full authority of the prosecution. On the other hand, prosecutors respond that the courts hand down unjust sentences and that in many cases the decisions do not match the seriousness of the criminal acts. The debate reopens the old clash between the two links of justice and raises questions about how the system functions.

TIRANA - the Albanian opposition has sent a special request to the leaders of the European Union’s “PHARE” program, expressing financial difficulties in organizing its structures. The document stresses that internal funds have shrunk and that the opposition parties need help to preserve their public activity. The request is linked to the post-election period, when, according to them, funding has been significantly reduced and political activity is facing restrictions.
